ARONWALL

For general exterior wall improvement work on RC and ALC panels

ARONWALL is a pioneering product that first introduced the concept of waterproofing and building protection to the exterior wall painting industry. Since its release in 1973, ARONWALL has been used by our construction partners to cover more than 100 million m2 of exterior walls nationwide in Japan. As a result, this ultra highly functional acrylic rubber protective coating has earned a strong reputation in the construction industry.

ARONWALL

Features

Eco-friendly product that extends building lifespans

ARONWALL protects buildings in four ways.

Extending building lifespans

Accommodates a broad range of construction needs, from new builds to remodels

Protects buildings

Provides buildings with long-term protection from harsh natural environments

Prevents water leaks and rebar corrosion

ARONWALL utilizes the superior flexibility of acrylic rubber to stop rainwater penetration and make the coating film harder to crack even when exterior concrete walls crack due to drying shrinkage. This also prevents rebar corrosion and alkali-aggregate reactions that cause expansion cracks in concrete.

Shonan Takahamadai Heights in Kanagawa Prefecture

Prevents concrete degradation

A one-millimeter thick coating of ARONWALL is equivalent to an approximately five-meter thick layer of concrete. ARONWALL's superior air tightness shuts out carbon dioxide gas, preventing concrete neutralization. When used in improvement work, ARONWALL can also effectively restore alkaline conditions.

Kyushu Electric Power's Sendai nuclear power plant in Kagoshima Prefecture

Prevents ALC degradation

ARONWALL prevents ALC degradation on exterior walls due to carbonation as well as salt and freeze damage by stopping penetration of carbon dioxide gas, moisture, and chloride ions. It protects joint sealants and improves water-resistance and durability by forming a continuous coating that covers not only ALC but masonry joints as well.

Prevents salt and freeze damage

ARONWALL also prevents early degradation of RC structures caused by salt damage by stopping the penetration of salt, oxygen and moisture. Additionally, ARONWALL offers water resistance and breathability that expels moisture from inside concrete, helping to maintain membrane dryness and stop freeze damage.

Prevents detachment of finishing mortar on exterior walls

ARONWALL prevents the detachment and peeling of finishing mortar on exterior walls because of its prolonged flexibility and ability to maintain membrane integrity, thus minimizing damages even during earthquakes or other natural disasters.

Verified to have reduced damages during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake

ARONWALL minimizes damage to finishing materials including stopping detachment of materials, even base materials, during a major earthquake thanks to its long-term flexibility and ability to maintain membrane integrity.

Maintains design aesthetic

Maintains exterior design aesthetics for the entire life of the building

Repairs cracks so that they are no longer noticeable

Using a coat of ARONWALL on top of a coat of ARONWALL SH, a base shock-absorbing material, applied to cracks, prevents cracking from recurring for an extended period of time and reduces the visibility of cracks.
Conventional U-cuts and sealant filling cause noise and dust and leaves a visible area where the crack was repaired, which becomes even more visible as time passes.

Low contamination specifications possible

ARONWALL's top coat contains a hydrophilicity technology that uses special high-durability hydroceramic ingredients that enables rain to wash away dirt and grime that accumulate on the coated film. ARONWALL offers excellent flexibility and low contamination specifications that make it harder for dirt and grime to accumulate, successfully maintaining a building's exterior aesthetic design for an extended period of time.

Complete water-soluble specification

Toagosei offers complete water based specification as part of its environmental efforts, including compliance with regulations on volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
A complete water-soluble specification means that a product is comprised entirely of water based materials and zero organic solvents for the primer, waterproofing and finishing top coat layers.
These truly eco-friendly designs are not harmful to workers, nearby residents, or the surrounding community.

*The primer amount and drying time will vary depending on the type and conditions of the base material and work environment.

Extending longevity to help reduce waste

Our mission is to reduce the resources we use and curb the amount of waste we produce. This will safeguard the global environment and conserve limited resources for future generations.
As a product designed to protect buildings over an extended period of time, ARONWALL is helping to safeguard the environment by reducing waste.

*Reduce: Limit the output of waste products.

Delivers cost performance

Reduces total cost with high performance

Reduces base material treatment costs for exterior wall improvements

ARONWALL forms a continuous, flexible and seamless membrane that even covers masonry joints during RC and ALC exterior wall improvement work. This reduces base material treatment costs as well as effectively improves durability and prevents degradation of exterior ALC panels or sealants.

Examples of Use

Improvement of general exterior wall finish coating using ARONWALL

There are many cases where rainwater penetrates not only a building's roof, but also through cracks on the exterior wall. For this reason, Toagosei developed and released ARONWALL, which is a modified version of Aron Coat, an acrylic rubber waterproofing coating for roofing, specifically for exterior wall applications. Exterior wall finishing with an acrylic rubber waterproofing coating such as ARONWALL has been the standard for waterproofing coating work since JASS8 was revised in the year 2000. ARONWALL is effective against neutralization, salt damage, and alkali-aggregate reactions because its coating shuts out causes of concrete degradation. The coating is flexible as well as covers and follows the base material (up to -40℃), providing sufficient performance even in cold environments subject to cracking.

Let's take a look at a real life example of application. Bankoku Shinryokan served as the venue for the Kyushu-Okinawa summit (26th G8 summit) held in the year 2000. The resort is located at Cape Busena on Okinawa's main island, providing panoramic views of Okinawa's beautiful ocean below. The contractor chose ARONWALL to protect this building over its lifespan because of its extensive track record in effectively preventing salt damage. Even today, 13 years after is completion and without any maintenance whatsoever, the resort retains its original beauty and character.

The Keiai Building used ARONWALL to waterproof the exterior walls and prevent the detachment of exterior wall tiles. To keep the exterior wall tiles from detaching, the building used a base material treatment using Aron ACC PIN-NET METHOD, which uses both Aron Vinylon Net and Aron Chemical Pin. Although CLEARWALL is ideal for simple exterior wall waterproofing work, ARONWALL MS, which provides a textured finish, was used because of the renewed exterior design plan as the look was changed from a ceramic tile finish to a rock style finish. In this manner, ARONWALL is a breakthrough product that accommodates a broad range of needs by simultaneously balancing function and design required of exterior wall waterproofing work. This is why ARONWALL has been used to coat more than 100 million m2 of exterior walls across a variety of building types, including schools, hospitals, condominiums, commercial facilities, factories, and warehouses.
